Under the chairmanship of YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, a meeting was held at Yıldız Technical University Davutpaşa Campus to determine new programs and departments in the fields of artificial intelligence, digitalization, and big data to be opened at universities. Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar, the Rector of Manisa Celal Bayar University, also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar announced the opening of new departments at universities in the fields of artificial intelligence, digitalization, and big data. Manisa Celal Bayar University is among the universities where new departments will be opened.
Özvar explained that they have decided to open the existing departments of 'Information Systems and Technologies,' 'Software Development,' and 'Information Security Technology' in various universities. Additionally, he mentioned that they have decided to open 2 new undergraduate programs. Özvar stated that the new departments planned to be opened at the undergraduate level are 'Data Science and Analytics' and 'Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.'
Özvar noted that they have evaluated the recommendations of the working group and decided to open 5 undergraduate and 12 new associate degree programs, two of which are for the first time, in universities in the fields of artificial intelligence, digitalization, and big data. However, he mentioned that the number of programs may increase in the coming days.
Prof. Dr. Özvar listed the universities where undergraduate and associate degree programs will be opened as follows:
"Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University, Atatürk University, Bursa Technical University, Ege University, Eskişehir Technical University, Gaziantep University, Harran University, Karabük University, Karadeniz Technical University, Kayseri University, Kocaeli University, Konya Technical University, Manisa Celal Bayar University, Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Ondokuz Mayıs University, Sakarya University, Sakarya Applied Sciences University, Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Trakya University, and Yıldız Technical University."
