Prof. Dr. Pınar Güzel Gürbüz, a faculty member at Manisa Celal Bayar University’s Faculty of Sports Sciences, has been invited by the World Karate Federation to serve as the sole Turkish referee at the World Games, which will be held in August in Chengdu, China.

The World Games, one of the most prestigious sporting events, brings together the most qualified referees selected from around the world. With this role, Prof. Dr. Gürbüz will represent both Manisa Celal Bayar University and Turkish karate on the international stage.

Having previously officiated at numerous national and international events and serving as a member of the World Referees Committee, Prof. Dr. Gürbüz’s participation in the World Games highlights the rising prominence of Turkish sports and academia globally and serves as an inspiring development for young referees and sports scientists.
