The founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was commemorated on the 87th anniversary of his passing with ceremonies held at Manisa Celal Bayar University.
The commemoration ceremonies were held at the Atatürk Monuments located at the Recreation Area of the MCBU Şehit Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Campus and the Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center at the Uncubozköy Health Campus. The ceremonies were attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ahmet Çetin, Prof. Dr. Kadir Ay, Prof. Dr. Oktay Üçer, Secretary General Erhan Doğan, Deans, Directors of Centers, a large number of academic and administrative staff, and students.
After the moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, the commemoration programs continued with speeches. At the Şehit Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Campus, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ferhat Berber, Faculty Member of the Department of History at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, delivered a speech titled "Atatürk's Vision in the Construction of Modern Turkey." At the Uncubozköy Health Campus, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Melih Akdeniz, Faculty Member at the Salihli Vocational School, gave a speech titled "After the Great Turk," reflecting on the significance of the day.
