Manisa Celal Bayar University Participates at a Senior Level in the UNIMED 2025 General Assembly
Manisa Celal Bayar University participated at a senior level in the UNIMED 2025 General Assembly, hosted by the University of Calabria in the Calabria region of Italy this year.
The meeting was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar, International Relations Coordinator Prof. Dr. Halil Babacan, and Lecturer İpek Yeniay Hatipoğlu.
This year’s General Assembly was organized under the theme "A New Pact for the Mediterranean" to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Process. Over 100 university and institutional representatives from more than 20 countries gathered for the event.
The main agenda items of the meeting included current issues such as digital transformation in higher education, applications of artificial intelligence, sustainable development, supporting academics in migration and crisis regions, student mobility, and education for peace.
UNIMED fosters interaction among its member universities not only through general meetings but also by developing multi-disciplinary and sustainable collaborations via thematic sub-networks. Thematic networks such as "e-Learning and Open Education, Migration, Sustainable Development, Heritage and Cultural Landscapes, Renewable Energies, Tourism, Transport and Logistics, Food and Water, Sport, Health, Artificial Intelligence, Mediterranean Public Universities" provide opportunities for joint projects, workshops, and publications among academics and researchers working in specific areas.
