Officials from the Foundation for Children with Leukemia (LÖSEV) visited Manisa Celal Bayar University Rector Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar as part of the Leukemia Awareness Week for Children, held between November 2–8.
Representing LÖSEV, İzmir Provincial Coordinator Ebru Alkan, Social Services Coordinator Serap Kırcı, MCBÜ Hafsa Sultan Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. İsmet Topçu, and young heroes who have recovered from leukemia attended the visit. During the meeting, the importance of Leukemia Awareness Week, raising public awareness about leukemia, and the challenges faced by children with leukemia were discussed. The continuation of support for these children was also emphasized.
The LÖSEV delegation highlighted the significance of uniting under the color "Orange" — the symbol of community, solidarity, and vitality — to draw attention to leukemia and enhance public awareness during this special week.
MCBÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar expressed her honor in welcoming the LÖSEV delegation and reaffirmed the university’s full support for children battling leukemia. She stated, “Supporting LÖSEV’s valuable work and promoting leukemia awareness within our university community are among our key responsibilities. Our university stands by our children fighting leukemia.”
During the visit, Rector Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar was presented with an orange ribbon, the symbol of the week, representing the struggle against leukemia and the spirit of holding on to life. Rector Kibar also personally presented special gifts to the children who have successfully overcome leukemia, commending their determination and strength.
The visit concluded with the exchange of good wishes and a commemorative photo session.
